I DO NOT ACCEPT FREE REVIEW COPIES FROM AUTHORS! Sorry, my integrity in my reviews is all I have.  The reviews are my opinions, they are no better or worse than someone else’s, but they have to be honest and when someone has “gifted” me a book, I really have a hard time being objective.  Translation: I know books are a labor of love and that author’s are not wealthy as a result of their publications, so if I don’t like your book and you have sent it to me for free, I’m going to feel bad spreading shade on your book.  I don’t like to feel bad, but I have to be honest, so I DO NOT ACCEPT FREE REVIEW COPIES FOM AUTHORS.

On the flip side, I do like to support authors and their efforts.  Clearly I believe in the cause, and want to see the field grow, if possible, I’m not only willing, but happy to purchase books, particularly from small Muslim owned businesses, alhumdulillah.

I DO ACCEPT FREE BOOKS AND ARCS FROM PUBLISHERS.  To me it is less personal when it comes from a company who is responsible for the content quality, grammar, binding, etc., etc., etc., to be honest and if I don’t like it, I really don’t feel bad saying so if it came from a publisher.

I seem to have a bit of a reputation for being harsh.  Alhumdulillah, in the last few years the options for quality Islamic fiction books, or books with Muslim rep has grown tremendously.  If my humble efforts can assist in holding the industry to a higher standard or outing poorly done, high priced, unrefined, token representation, misrepresentation, erroneously, sloppy, work, I’m here for it, and happy to be labled as harsh.
